Varicose veins and spider veins affect a significant portion of adults across the country. According to the Society for Vascular Surgery, approximately 24% of adults in the United States have visible varicose veins, and 6% develop chronic venous disease that can lead to leg swelling, skin discoloration, and venous ulcers if left untreated.
Applied to Mccormick Ranch’s population of approximately 13,820, that means roughly 3,317 residents may have visible varicose veins and approximately 829 could be living with chronic venous disease.
Mccormick Ranch is an upscale community in central Scottsdale. Several factors increase the likelihood of developing vein disease, including prolonged standing or sitting, family history, pregnancy, and age. Arizona’s extreme heat also plays a role – high temperatures cause veins to expand, which can worsen symptoms like heaviness, swelling, and visible bulging. Many residents notice their symptoms intensify during the warmer months.
After treatment, McCormick Ranch residents return to the active lakeside lifestyle they love:
Walking or biking the Indian Bend Wash Greenbelt path that runs through the community
Playing 18 holes at McCormick Ranch Golf Club on the Pine or Palm course
Morning walks around the neighborhood lakes with mountain views to the east
Browsing shops and dining along Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard
Paddleboarding or kayaking on the community lakes during cooler months

Yes. Walking is one of the best activities for vein health because it activates the calf muscle pump, which pushes blood back toward the heart. The flat, paved paths around McCormick Ranch lakes are ideal for a low-impact daily walk that supports circulation.
Heat causes veins to dilate, which can increase swelling, heaviness, and visible vein bulging. McCormick Ranch residents who spend time outdoors during summer should elevate their legs afterward, stay hydrated, and wear compression stockings when possible.
A free vein evaluation includes a physical examination of your legs, a review of your symptoms and medical history, and a discussion of treatment options. If medically indicated, a diagnostic ultrasound may be ordered and is typically covered by insurance.
We recommend resting the day of treatment and resuming light activity the next day. Most patients return to golf within two to three days. Walking the course is encouraged over riding a cart, as the leg movement supports recovery and circulation.
Our Scottsdale clinic at 10250 N 92nd St Suite 203, Scottsdale, AZ 85258 is approximately 5 minutes from McCormick Ranch via Shea Boulevard or Indian Bend Road. Call to schedule your free evaluation.
