Yes. UV radiation from sun exposure damages the collagen in blood vessel walls, weakening them and making spider veins more visible. Arizona residents are especially susceptible. Wearing sunscreen and protective clothing can help reduce new spider vein formation.

Sclerotherapy uses an injectable solution to collapse veins from the inside, while laser treatment uses focused light energy to target veins through the skin. Sclerotherapy is generally preferred for leg veins, while laser treatment is often used for very small spider veins and facial veins.
